About Stept On
To write and perform music that moves people, not only physically, but emotionally as well. To make our passion for that music become contagious until that passion is shared by as many people as possible, and to make as many friends as we can along the way. "Stept On", based out of Clearfield, Pennsylvania (near Penn State), has followed a long, sometimes rocky, but always determined road to get where they are today. Their story dates back to the early '90's with vocalist CHUCK BUDZINA's start in the band Badwrench. Guitarist MATT DAY joined the group in late 1996. In January of '99, the band shortened its name to Wrench.A legal dispute, however, forced a name change in the summer of 2000 and so Stept On was born. The recent additions of JOSH HETRICK on drums and ART ARMANI on bass assures that "Stept On" will continue to be the rock solid powerhouse that they have always been. An image or a gimmick can only get you so far. Eventually it has to be about the music. "Stept On's" varied and diverse musical influences certainly keep things interesting, but that's not enough either. It's the raw energy and intensity with which they attack their performance of the music that gives them that "in your face" attitude that keeps people coming back for more. This energy is a release not just for the band, but for the audience too. Making sure everyone leaves having been entertained is definitely a priority for the band. "Stept On's" songs have developed into a style that's both active and hard edged while still being accessible and commercially viable. Mix the drive of metal, the groove of funk, and the melodic hook of modern rock and you get a style that defies being easily placed into a category. "Stept On" wants to set the trends, not follow them. The members combined have performed in over half the states in America and as a band have shared the stage with the likes of Fuel, Live, Sponge, The Spin Doctors, Clutch, Mushroom Head, Stir, Vanilla Ice, The Lunachicks, Seven Mary Three, Jimmy's Chicken Shack, The Screaming Cheetah Wheelies, The Badlees, Caroline's Spine, Lifer, and Breaking Benjamin. "Stept On" is a full time job for the band and has kept them from the need of alternative employment for over 3 and 1/2 years by maintaining a scheduele of an average one hundred and fifty dates a year. They are currently working on a follow up to their successfully self promoted CD "Lonely". With the help of their new manager TERRY WHITE of "Sixth Member Management"(Echo 7, Dust for Life) and TONY COUCH of "McGathy Promotions"(Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mud, Creed), this project is sure to take "Stept On" to the next level.
