About Stephanie Willis
Steph hails from High Wycombe and has been playing guitar since she was 13 years of age. After being taught how to play Stand By Me by Ben E King by “a guy called Gringo from an RAF band” whilst at a wedding on the Isle of Man she was hooked. She wrote her first song very soon after and started a band with her best friend before going solo. She has played at about 800 gigs in venues from her hometown of High Wycombe, Windsor, Staines and throughout Buckinghamshire and London all the way to earning her stripes busking and gigging in Australia and New Zealand whilst travelling with friends. “We ran out of money…” she muses excitedly “we got free rooms in one hostel in return for playing some music.” Growing up in a religious and artistic environment (her father is a priest and mother an artist) gave her an environment for internal reflection and a quest for knowledge, reoccurring themes in a lot of her songs whilst the artistic side gave her an ability for expression. Her songs delve from the spiritual and inner reflective dilemmas of personality on songs such as Venom and I Hate The You to the everyday and colourful lyrics of songs such as Weekend and When We First Met. As yet unsigned on both publishing and recording fronts Steph’s current aims are to bolster her fanbase and expand her already considerable repertoire of songs. To this end she gigs and attends studio avidly recording mostly at Beyond Da Booth studios. 2011 has seen her team up with EGA Music Management home of artists such as Devlin and Code Red. Since then she has been in the studio with fellow EGA stable mate and cutting edge producer Lewi White as well as the chart topping producers Future Cut who have penned hits for the likes of Lily Allen and Shakira. Steph has also been co-writing with Devlin and her debut release Venom is scheduled for an early 2012 release on iTunes. Venom is the debut download release from singer/songwriter Steph Willis. Produced by Lewi White Venom is an exciting, dark adventure into the world of revenge. It takes the listener on a giddy journey into the unknown and the sinister. The chorus lyrics “Venom is sweeter than I used to think” sum up the song succinctly. The simple but bold production and the song lyric paint an absorbing theatre of emotions, as curiously the song’s very darkness is what makes it so tantalisingly inviting.
