About Starets

Starets are retro British punk revivalists. In 2008, "The Clash Comes to Town" is their first song released. This song is a musical biography of The Clash, particularly a tribute to Joe Strummer, set in 1979 during the making of London Calling. Starets is a Toronto based solo project, not a band. The songs are written, arranged, produced and performed largely by guitarist and vocalist Law. Although contemporary recording techniques are used by Starets, their recordings aim for a pre-1980 period retro punk soundworld. Real guitars, bass and drums are used exclusively. The songs, like The Clash Comes to Town, have frequent modal chord modulations, composed intros and codas (no repetitious fadeaway endings), and guitar solos.
