About Spider Priest
Spider Priest is a stoner/sludge metal band formed in Glasgow in 2010. Bashing out songs based on big, energetic riffs and featuring lyrics tackling important subjects such as ill-advised drunken one night stands, 2000AD's Slainé, and the (original) Clash of the Titans movie, Spider Priest keep it simple and keep it heavy. Down-tuned, dirty sounding guitars and a heavy weight rhythm section are the solid foundations of Spider Priest. Incorporating a range of influences from classic rock and early punk to various genres of contemporary metal, the result is a meaty, hook laden, groove infused mass of modern stoner/sludge metal that maintains a familiar, almost retro feel. The band adopts a relaxed approach to song writing, jamming with new riffs in the practice room and keeping what kicks ass. Songs develop naturally, and are only finished once they feel right. This approach has not only served the band well on the current batch of songs, but has also resulted in a constant, sizeable backlog of unused awesome riffs which will form the basis of future Spider Priest anthems!
