Speed Painters is based around the Detroit house, techno and motor soul influenced compositions of Simon 'Tig' Huggins - also of dormant post-rock/indie trio Touch Typist, and key member of the Two Bright Lakes record label and artist collective. So far, Speed Painters' only release has been the track 'Drifter', which was published as an mp3 on the Waves At Night blog. Performing live, Tig is joined by producer, collaborator and brother Nick Huggins (also of Touch Typist, playing guitar, synthesisers, samples and effects), Oscar O'Bryan (trumpet, synthesiser and effects) and Jon Tjhia (formerly of ii, Tailor Made for a Small Room and Aleks and the Ramps, on sampler, synthesisers and effects). Speed Painters' debut album is slated for release in mid 2013.
