About Sophie Thatcher
Born on October 18. 2000, in Chicago, Illinois, Sophie Bathsheba Thatcher is an American actress and musician. She is best known for her portrayal of teenage Natalie Scatorccio in Yellowjackets (2021-present), a psychological drama series on Showtime, her role as Sister Barnes in Heretic (2024) and Iris in Companion (2025) which has earned her the title of a scream queen. In 2018, she made her big screen debut in the 2018 film Prospect, then starred in The Boogeyman (2023). Thatcher's work on stage includes productions of Oliver!, Seussical, The Diary of Anne Frank, and The Secret Garden. During her youth, Thatcher described her family as "musical"; she sang in a church choir and her mother played piano. She grew up singing and started acting when she was 4 years old. She went to a performing arts school for musical theater and her on-camera experience led her to pursue acting more than singing. She currently resides in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Her role as Natalie in Yellowjackets, especially in Season 2 and 3, has garnered critical and audience acclaim for. She released a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door' for Heretic in November 2024. She released her debut EP, Pivot and Scrape in October 2024, described as 'experimental pop'- some of the songs having been produced by her boyfriend, Austin Feinstein. The album has positive reviews. In January 2025, she collaborated with Hirshikesh Hirway two create three songs for the sondtrack of the film Companion, which she played the main character in. She is often considered a scream queen and a queer icon, specifically for her roles in Yellowjackets, Heretic, and Companion.
