About Soho Vultures
London's Soho Vultures started life billed as West End Central during May 1987. Notable band members included the former IDLE FLOWERS duo of vocalist / guitarist RENE BERG and drummer Smash and erstwhile HANOI ROCKS guitarist Nasty Suicide. Berg had also briefly played a role with Hanoi Rocks during their final months together. Soho Vultures demoed but issued no commercial product after every recording session reportedly turned to excess partying. Berg issued a 1993 solo album 'The Leather, The Loneliness And Your Dark Eyes' on the Communique label featuring a number of these songs. He had planned to release the remaining tracks on a follow-up album, including the beautiful "London Town"; the song he was said to have been the most proud of having written. Sadly, Rene Berg passed away on 28th July 2003. Rumours amonst the musical community, from whom Berg had deliberately drawn away from, suggested the musician had a history of battling depression and drug abuse.
