About Soft Opening
Soft Opening was formed in the winter of 08/09 in Asheville, NC. Members include Jamie Hepler (body of john the baptist, robots vs villages, ventricles), Patrick Jordan (lost sounds, badways, pelicans), and Tony Plichta (serpents, descolada, skullthunder). Acting as a trio they released a cdr entitled Pistillate in April 2009. After touring on Pistillate they took a shift towards psychedelia and drone/noise rock and added organist Ross Gentry (villages, robots vs villages, ventricles). Patrick Kukucka and Cyrus Shahmir (the N.E.C.) were also taken on board to lend organ/synth on a regular basis. In September of 2009 Soft Opening entered Hi-5 studio in Asheville to record what would become their self titled LP to be released in May of 2011. This release documented the shift the group had taken from the more metal influences heard on Pistillate to the aforementioned psychedelic/drone sound while maintaining much of the weight available in their earlier work. In 2012, Kyle Tompkins (blackout effectors) took over the position of organist/drone/effects. The group is currently refining new material while touring and are slated to begin recording their follow-up LP toward the end of the year. http://softopening.bandcamp.com Soft Opening on SPOTIFY Soft Opening on ITUNES Soft Opening on FACEBOOK
