About Snake Mountain
Formed in early 2006 Snake Mountain is a 4 piece instrumental rock band from Calgary, AB. The group released their first EP in the summer of 2007, with four songs clocking in around 35 minutes. The self-titled recording has been well received by local radio and an enthusiastic audience. Drawing inspiration from such acts as Neurosis, Pelican, Isis and Explosions in the Sky, Snake Mountain creates a mixture of ambience and intensity in their music. Focusing on a strong sense of dynamic guitar melodies and driving bass lines, Snake Mountain attempts to define themselves as a balance of two sources: beauty and minimalism alongside powerful and soaring soundscapes. With another release, a cross Canada tour and possibly the addition of a new member planned for 2008, Snake Mountain aim to constantly push themselves and to create something worth keeping an eye out for.
