About Sleepyard
Sleepyard is a psychedelic pop band from Norway started up in 1998 influenced by bands such as Can, Beach boys and Spacemen 3. The band released the minialbum "Intersounds" on their own label Orange music the following year. This was later hailed as one of the very first post rock albums from Norway. Sleepyard released "The runner" on trust me records (2003) and contributed music to the movie Monsterthursday, which was nominated for best foreign film in the 2005 Sundance film festival. 2006 saw the release of a more mellow album named "Easy tensions" from the group, with lots of dreamy harmonies throughout the album. Some critics drew comparisons to The Beach boys far-out recordings. Sleepyard did branch out into new orbits of sound with their 2009 album "Future lines. Legendary pianist Mike Garson played piano on five songs and Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3, Spectrum, EAR) added psychedelic magic to the track Afternoon suntrap. This album had more emphasis on drones and orchestral arrangements all wrapped in a wall of Lo-Fi sound. New album "Black Sails" are in the works and the band have collaborated with Dawn Smithson (Jessamine, Low Places, Sunn O)))) on a new track called 1000 year vacation.
