About Shafiga Eyvazova

Shafiga Eyvazova was born on March 9 in 1947 in Baku. She is one of the best kamancha (spiked fiddle) players and was awarded to the rank of the Popular artist of Azerbaijan in 2000. She studied in 1962-1966 at the Azerbaijan State Music School and in 1966-1971 at the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire. Shafiga Eyvazova is the first woman soloist performer in Azerbaijan. She was the winner in the festivals held in Voronezh in 1970 and in 1973 in Berlin. She is a soloist in the “Tekfen-Kara Deniz”, the Turkish Symphonic Orchestra since 2003. Mugam records as “Shur”, “Shushtar”, “Rahab” and many others documenting her performance are saved in the Azerbaijan Radio and Television Foundation. Shafiga Eyvazova has been working in the Azerbaijan State Music School and in the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire as a teacher since 1967. Now she is the professor of the Azerbaijan National Conservatoire.
