About Serdar Somuncu

Serdar Somuncu was born on 3 June 1968 in Istanbul and is a Turkish-German performer and director. He studied music, acting and theatrical direction in Maastricht. He was first noted with his long lasting tour called 'Nachlass eines Massenmörders' in which he play-read his own interpretation of selected passages from the book 'Mein Kampf' (German for 'My battle') by Adolf Hitler. In 2000 Sumuncu started another series of readings presenting excerpts from a famous speech from 18 February 1943 by the Reich's minister of propaganda Joseph Goebbels. Among others, he performed in front of former prisoners of concentration camps Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen. Currently, Sumuncu is on tour with his program 'Hitler Kebap'. At this he is reading (among others) several short stories from his book 'Getrennte Rechnungen' and also picks up topics of everyday politics. Releases: * 2000 - Serdar Somuncu liest Joseph Goebbels (Audiobook; German for 'Serdar Somuncu reads Joseph Goebbels') * 2002 - Nachlass eines Massenmörders, Lübbe Belletristik (German for 'Abatement of a mass murderer') * 2003 - Serdar Somuncu liest E.
