About Sentient Earth
Sentient Earth was a two man band from swamps and piney woods of South Georgia. Founded around 2006, the band consisted of long time friends Dallas Suttles (Vocals, Acoustic, Bass, Keyboard) and Lance Morris (Electric, Lead Guitar, Bass, Drums) As couple of broke ass white guys scrapping by toiling under the Georgian sun, music was pretty much the summit of their mundane lives. And they had high hopes. They literally begged, borrowed, and stole to attain recording equipment that didn't suck ass. They worked all day at their shitty day jobs and recorded all night, fueled by a steady diet of drugs and booze. Over the hellishly hot summer and fall of 2008 they recorded a large batch of songs in various stages of completion, using whatever spare time they had to record and write music. Then the recession hit, their employer went out of business, and life sent the two members of Sentient Earth spiraling off into darkness. Pathetically, Sentient Earth broke up before completing a single album. It would not be until 2013 that "frontman" of Sentient Earth, Dallas Suttles, would finally stop worrying about the opinions of strangers and put a damn album of the material up online. That album is Purgatory Auguries. And it's about the end of life. Sentient Earth's Influences include: Pink Floyd; Nick Drake; Skip James; Opeth; "whatever the hell Lance listened to," William Blake; Cormac McCarthy; Manic Depression; Hail Eris!
