About Sea of Love
Sea of Love alias Marie-Sophie Kanske has her very own perception of time - far outside of conventional (music-)industrial mechanisms. Alongside “So Loud”, her EP from this year’s January, her new EP “Tired” constitutes an album without being released as a homogenous whole. The songs origins are the same but their final form reflects a developmental process. The new EP seems more reduced but also more elaborate and effective. Sea of Love does not layer her voices in warm harmonies, instead she arranges them like the shards of a broken mirror. Same goes for the transparent production by Christian Grochau which never holds out in simple folk songs for more than a few moments. Tired is a landscape one can walk through, while music and voices shoot at you like arrows from ambushes. Enchanted, disturbing, tenderly overwhelming.
