sam was from pontiac michigan. we grew up together in the 50's. his original last name was baughy, his father, a minister made him change his last name if he was going to continue singing rock and roll and he chose bowie. sam sang in local clubs in and around pontiac and waterford doing a great job of anything he sang especially rightous brother covers. sam recorded for wingate records a small hit called' think of the times we had together'. i have heard two rumors of him ,that he is still alive living in florida singing on cruise ships and the other that he has passed away. all i know is that i remember a great guy who could really sing and enterain and we had many good times and if he is still around i would love to see him again.
