About Salook
Stephen Mullarkey aka Salook is an evolving self-styled musical artist hailing from the sleepy kingdom of Fife in Scotland. When his music teacher told him he had originality and graded him with an A for inventing, there was no going back on the creative journey that lay ahead. Though his earliest gear collection consisted of a second hand Yamaha rm1x sequencer, Yamaha PSR keyboard, mixer, Zoom sampletrak and Mini disk recorder, his interest in exploring and working with sound inspired him to join college and en-roll in a music & audio technology class. Working with industry standard software in a studio environment forced him to move on from hardware into music software products, Currently working on solo material, collaboration projects and remixes, Salook joins a new generation of musicians pushing the boundaries. 2013/14 saw releases on netlabel The Outtalectuals and as resident artist on Big Wave Records. Other projects include The Shimmer Effect, Grounded Souls and Dub Bred. Influences: World, Roots, Dub, Electronic, Experimental.
