SPARTA LOCALS (スパルタローカルズ) is a japanese rock band from the town of Fukuoka and formed in 1998. The band members consisted of Abe Kousei (vocals, guitar), Itou Shinichi (guitar), Abe Mitsuhiro (bass), and Kajiyama Tsuyoshi (drums). Former member Nakayama Akihito (drums) left on September 2006, a few days before スパルタローカルズ (5th album) release. Stylistically, they combine post-punk and new wave influences such as Television, The Police, and Gang of Four, with an angular indie rock sound. Fujita Isamu from the band MO'SOME TONEBENDER was a guest drummer on the album まぼろしFOREVER (Maboroshi FOREVER). In August 2009, the band announced their dissolution, effective immediately following their show at Shibuya-AX on September 23rd, 2009. reformed effective December 4th, 2016, following a show at Akasaka BLITZ.
