SM Salim is foremost Malaysian male singer in the mould of Frank Sinatra and the Bing Crosby genere but in the local Malaysian dialect, the malay language.Had a stint as a broadcaster in what was then Radio Malaya in late 50's and then Radio Malaysia in the 60's and the 70's where he doubled as entertainer and honed in his musical prowess .Considered the doyan of true malaysian folk songs, is still active with successful duet collaboration with current contemporary malay artise the likes of Siti Nurhaliza ,Zainal Abidin and Sheila Majid who are half his age. His last commanding performance with the Malaysian Philharmonic Ochestra (MPO) at the state of the art Petronas Hall in Kuala Lumpur in 2008 got a rave review with full house attendance from the local fraternity
