Rudy van Dalm (born 1927 in Banka, former Dutch East Indies, the country now called Indonesia) had a life in music behind him when he moved to The Netherlands in 1960: in Indonesia and Australia he had toured extensively with several orchestras. In The Netherlands he became well-known and rather succesful with his backing band, The Royal Rhytmics. Van Dalm stayed true to his Indonesian roots: many of his popular songs were Indonesian traditionals, played in an early rock 'n roll style.
