About Robin & Barry Dransfield
One of the renowned acts of the English folk revival, brothers Robin & Barry Dransfield made two albums that continue to be regarded as classics: ‘The Rout Of The Blues’ (1970) and ‘Lord Of All I Behold’ (1971). Both albums feature beautiful vocal harmonies with guitar and fiddle accompaniment; Barry Dransfield on violin (doubling on guitar later), keeping his voice in the mix by holding the violin across his chest as he played, while Robin Dransfield played acoustic guitar. Both of them sang. In the mid 70s the duo expanded to form Dransfield, a short-lived group principally comprising of Robin & Barry Dransfield with vocalist/bassist/keyboardist Charlie Smith and drummer Brian Harrison. The band's 1976 album ‘The Fiddler's Dream’ is a classic folk-rock album. The brothers reunited to record an acoustic duo album, Popular to Contrary Belief, in 1977. Both made solo albums at various times. 'Up to Now' is an album of rare, un-released and classic tracks recorded between 1970 and 1996.
