Robert Loughlin

About Robert Loughlin

There are at least 2 people recording under the name of Robert Loughlin. 1. A blues musician working on solo projects and collaborations from the USA. 2. Punk/rock song writer and multi instrumentalist from the band the Dead Bishops/Alien Matter based in the UK. 1. Born at at the end of the 1980s, Robert Loughlin was born in the era of spandex, headbands, and Guns N' Roses. However, his musical roots can be attributed to the great bluesmen of the early 1900s--namely, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker, and John Lee Hooker. To tie off his blend of musical influences, Loughlin blends 60s folk and psychadelic sounds like Dylan, Young, Cream, and the Grateful Dead to create an electic sound straight out of the depths of New Jersey. In his debut album, Blues From the Garage, released in 2007, Loughlin fires up your speakers with the adeptly titled "Blues #1." A fully instrumental track, the wailings of Loughlin's Les Paul are enough to stimulate the interest of any bluesman. In the song "Fall in Love Again", the blend of sad, sweet lyrics for an unnamed brunette lover, and the musings of the wandering acoustic guitar tug on the heartstrings. While attending Syracuse University, Rob continues to experiment with new, innovative blues techniques. When will his next album come out? Regardless of timeframe, the next album featuring Loughlin is well worth the wait. Currently collaborating with the Blues Trio SSFLBBB, Loughlin plays a fiery lead guitar which combines new age effects with roots blues techniques. 2. Based in the UK, Robert Loughlin is currently playing bass for Alien Matter - www.myspace.com/alienmatter and working on solo projects. Concentrating mainly on punk/rock/pop genres and often going under the guise of the Dead Bishops - www.myspace.com/thedeadbishops.
