In 2019, Detroit techno producer Robert Hood and Afrobeat scion Femi Kuti collaborated at a tribute concert to the legendary James Brown for the French TV show "La Compagnie des Indes & Sourdoreille". Four years later a recording of the performance, simply titled Variations, was released on Hood's label M-Plant.
