About Reinvention
Reinvention is a New School Hip-Hop Duo based in West Philadelphia. The duo consists of Classic and DJ Entendu. Their sound has been described as an eclectic mix of indie rock and electronic influences mixed with the soul of old school rap and hip-hop. Classic's rapping bears similarities to modern rappers like Kanye West and Mos Def, but Classic has also been known to use rap as a form of storytelling similar to Old School rappers like Nas and Q-Tip. DJ Entendu's production style is very influenced by the 1990's NYC Hip-Hop movement and producers like Pete Rock and DJ Premier, using samples for the majority of his beats. However, DJ Entendu also incorporates modern musical influences into his music, with electro-influenced synths and indie rock samples. The duo's debut EP "A Rapper In Denial" featured samples of indie rock bands such as Grizzly Bear, Feist, And Selby Jase and Florence and the Machine among others.
