About Raghu Lokanathan

Of Indian descent but raised in Montreal Quebec, Raghu Lokanathan is one of Canada's most promising songwriters. His first album, Everywhere I've Ever Been, features charming stories of adventure and subtle ruminations on the human condition. Song's like "Darkness Is Coming", "Old Black Cat" and the title track "Everywhere I've Ever Been" reward multiple listenings, and once they're in there they never seem to leave. While his first album was recorded on Canada's East Coast, much of Lokanathan's career has been spent in British Columbia's Northern Capital - Prince George, certainly an interesting backdrop for a budding songwriter. Lokanathan pays homage to this milltown on the title track of his sophomore album Caledonia. This album, a continuation of the first, introduces the listener to a variety of quirky characters in Lokanathan's inimitable style. The track "Ramona" garnered a great deal of attention from CBC Radio, propelling Lokanathan into Canada's canon of established artists. Raghu has ventured to such music festivals as Kisiox, Edge of The World and Vancouver Folk Fest, in addition to playing extensively as a community musician in Prince George. He recently relocated to Victoria, where he continues to expand his vast repetoir of songs and develop as an instrumentalist.
