About Rage And The Symphonic Orchestra Prague
In 1996 German Heavy Metal band RAGE made an ambitious project that included rearanging some of the songs from their catalogue and recording them together with THE SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA PRAGUE. The result is the album "Lingua Mortis", which was produced by Ulli Pösselt, Peter "Peavy" Wagner and Christian Wolff. The two next RAGE studio albums ("XIII",1998 and "Ghosts",1999) featured brand new songs recorded again with THE SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA PRAGUE, but this time the orchestra was named after the previous album - LINGUA MORTIS. In 1998 RAGE and LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA went together on European tour, during which a live dvd "Metal Meets Classic Live" was recorded, and it was released in 2001. This was the first ever collaboration of a Heavy Metal band and an orchestra and it proved that Metal and classical music can be blended and create an interesting and exciting mixture of both styles. In 2006 RAGE once again teamed up with LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA for the 22 minute long song "Suite Lingua Mortis", that was released on the album "Speak of the Dead" and in 2007 they went on another tour together. The show in Wacken Festival, Germany, was recorded and released as a bonus dvd for the limited edition of the new RAGE album, "Carved in Stone", 2008.
