About Raffaella Aleotti

Raffaella Aleotti (b Ferrara, c1570; d after 1646). Italian composer. She was director of the ‘concerto grande’ at the convent of S Vito, Ferrara, for which she no doubt wrote her Sacrae cantiones (1593). Her sister Vittoria (c1573-after 1620), in the same convent, published a set of madrigals (1591) to texts by Guarini.
