About Radovan Tariška Sextet
Radovan Tariška grew up in musical family, by the age of 5 being encouraged to study music by his grandfather, who was clarinetist and saxophone player, too. During the studies at Conservatory in Zilina (SK), he specialized in classical saxophone, joined Big Band called „the Slovak Young Swing Generation“ and as a member of this band played on Bratislava Jazz Days in 1997. After graduation he quickly established among the Slovak jazz musician elite. Cooperated in projects: Juraj Bartoš & Radovan Tariška- Hot House (BJD 2001,CD Live 2003, CD live from Czech castle under patronage of Czech president), Gabo Jonáš Quartet (CD Live 2002), Miki Škuta Club (BJD 2002,CD Identity2002), Matúš Jakabčic Quartet, Tentet and SK/CZ Big Band (CD Live ORF 2007), Peter Lipa (CD Beatles in BlueS), Jozef Dome Quartet (BJD&CD Live 2004), Ľuboš Šrámek (CD Five Reasons 2005), Pavol Bodnár (CD Ecce jazz 2007) and more than 40 albums of all kinds and music genres. In 2002 he was invited as a guest to join the european project Europlane Orchestra of Italian pianist Robert Magrisa consisting of prominent musicians from different states of Europe (CD Europlane Orchestra Live feat. Philippe Catherine). In 2002 he received a prestigeous jazz prize „Jazzman of the year“ given to the best Slovak jazzmen as honour of the famous Slovak jazzman Ladislav Martoník. In 2007 he produced and performed on Hanka Gregusova debut CD – Reflection of my soul and in 2008 he recorded CD Elements with pianist Ondrej Krajňák (duo), nominated for music award called Aurel as the best jazz album of the year. He cooperated and played with finest musicians from all over the world: James Morrison, Oliver Kent, Harry Sokal, Jarek Smietana, Piotr Baron, Janus Muniak, Roy Hargrove, Esstiet Essiet, E.J. Strickland, Marcus Strickland, Donald Edwards, Jeremy Pelt, Joan Faulkner, Kornel Fekete Kovacs, Gabor Winand, Jeff Ballard, George Mraz and others.
