About Radomir Mihailović Točak

Radomir Mihailović Točak is a guitarist, composer and the leader of the band Smak. He was born in Čačak, Serbia, 13. the June 1950. He has been playing different instruments with strings since he was five. He started playing the guitar at the age of nine. His playing style is characterised by mixture of emotional expression and unique technique. Among other things, his specific style includes skillful fingerpicking and vibrato techniques. In many compositions he uses non-standard string tunings along with natural effects obtained from the guitar amplifier. For a long time he’s been running his own guitar school. As a solo artist he took part in many recording sessions of other bands. He is playing in a trio called TEK, together with Slobodan Stojanović Kepa on drums and Mikica Milosavljević on bass, both from Smak. He also composed soundtracks for film and theatre. He was awarded in 1994. for the Byzantine Blue film score. Točak is also engaged in experimenting with computers while composing. He was dubbed The Wheel because of a tattoo of a wheel on his right hand which he got in memory of his father, a wheel maker.
