About RJ Mohr
Country To The Bone The Evolution Of RJ Mohr RJ was born in Saginaw, MI. August 16th. He was born to John and Kathy Altscheffel the day that Elvis died. Life came fast and hard, typical of a son of a farming man. Nothing comes easy or free, you have to work for anything good in life. Handouts bring fleeting happiness, but when its gone emptiness sets up shop and never thinks of leaving until the next handout comes along. And then guilt, guilt is a heavy burden that has laid many a great man down. At least that's what his father taught him, a wise man, too wise for this world, the whiskey bottle has been his long lonely friend and bitter enemy. Still, in moments of sobriety the wealth of knowledge from father John is priceless. RJ grew up on the country classics handed down from his father and grandfather alike, Hank Sr. to Roy Clark, not too many country artists discover the music on their own. It happens, but in most circumstances country music is a part of a persons heritage, this being so in RJ's case. Father John was also a great fan of good ol' Rock 'n' Roll, from Elvis to the Beatles. RJ had quite the eclectic variation of music to be influenced by. Being raised on a farm an hour and a half from Detroit in Indiantown, music was in his blood. The legendary Stevie Wonder was in fact born in the same city of Saginaw, Michigan, the destination of one of the greatest country songs ever written. Growing up he was turned on to the popular music of the day, heavy metal, hair bands, and outlaw country. Still RJ didn't seriously pick up a guitar until 2001. When he did there was no stopping him. He was learning all the songs of his heroes. His best friend Scott Bishop knew RJ was one of the most talented singers he had heard, live or recorded. Scott suggested he try writing his own music. The music came easy, RJ was a master of melody, but the words, the words didn't come easy. Scott was a writer his whole life as well as one of the biggest music lovers on the face of Gods green earth. He started writing as a child, from song lyrics, short stories, poetry, and really anything that would cross his mind. RJ knew the answer to his problem, and soon created the writing team of Mohr/Bishop. Scott would write the lyrics with RJ writing the music. That brings us to 2007 with 2008 quickly approaching. RJ and Scott now have quite the catalog of songs just waiting to be heard. So to the world, I now present to you RJ MOHR!
