About PushMeUnder

Formed in late 2001, Pushmeunder were able to develop the twisted, angry and occasionally beautiful post-hardcore that they captured so brilliantly on their debut EP. Like Japanese bizarros Envy, they straddle the gulf between avant-garde post rock like Mogwai and screaming post-hardcore like Norma Jean. Currently gigging furiously - or as furiously as a limited gig circuit allows - this is "one of the few Brit bands who could possibly scare the shit out of us in a Mastodon/Locust style". "The quiet, post-rock bits are quieter and longer and the loud, screamy bits are more metallic and screechy. It's good stuff, although I do find myself desiring a bit more rock that is exhibited in opener 'Swords At Sunset' or the sub-minute blast of 'Fall of the Insect Empire'. It feels like the EP is split into two; the first half is generally more straighforward and heavy; the last 2 tracks are almost totally Godspeed-esque instrumentals with a few distorted screamy bits."
