About Povel Ramel
Baron Povel Ramel (born 1 June 1922, dead 5 June 2007) was a Swedish entertainer. He was a singer, pianist, vaudeville artist, composer, and songwriter, and has written over 1,000 songs. Ramel's songs are noted for their humor and drastic wordplay. He has written a few songs in English, including "The Sukiyaki Syndrome", about a visit in a Japanese restaurant. His first hit was in 1944 with his song "Johanssons boogie-woogie-vals" (Johansson's boogie woogie waltz). Other songs include: "Tjo va de va livat i holken i lördags" (Whoopee whatta bustle it was in the birdhouse last Saturday), "Sorglösa brunn" (Light-hearted well, a play on the real Ramlösa), "Karl Nilsson", "Jag diggar dig" (I dig you), "Varför är där ingen is till punschen? "(Why is there no ice in the Punsch?), "Det skulle aldrig delfinerna göra" (The dolphins would never do that), "De sista entusiasterna" (the last enthusiasts). A small note to the previous composer of this article, Povel Ramel was a great artist, not only known for he's great vocabulary, he was the true master of the Swedish Language, and extended it to it's most, a very jocular man, he knew where to put his punchlines. Also, it could be worth to mention, the most of his lyrics would be untranslatable into English.
