Plead the Widow's Cause is an American indie spirit filled heavy metal and post hardcore band from Southern New Jersey. The band was formed in 2022. Their name is derived of the Bible passage Isaiah 1:16-17, "Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." On February 18, 2022, Plead the Widow's Cause released their independent debut studio album, Pain Split. In 2024, they released an acoustic extended play of Pain Split. On March 7, 2025, the band released their second independent studio album, Silver Glass Stare. Themes of loss, redemption, hypocrisy, corporate greed, and self-reflection are woven throughout the record, making Silver Glass Stare a raw, unapologetic statement that resonates with both heart and fury. Breaking away from the modern trend of pre-release singles, Plead the Widow’s Cause is inviting listeners to experience Silver Glass Stare as a complete work of art. “We wanted to go against the grain of the streaming algorithms and back to a simpler time when you listened to albums in their entirety on release day,” explains guitarist Brett Wanamaker. This decision reflects the band’s commitment to their craft and their desire to deliver a cohesive, immersive listening experience.
