About Pinkmen

Coming together in 2017, Pinkmen has been building a buzz in the Metro Manila music scene to the resounding tune of folk-rock - and they aren’t slowing down. Lead vocalists Giro Alvarado and Matt Medrano trace their roots back to high school where the two first met. Driven by a mutual interest in folk music and rock, the two soon began spending their past time writing music together. Taking this passion to college, the duo made their debut performance in the UP Fair 2016. This marked the beginning of their duo as Pinkmen — a name they took from one of their favorite TV show characters. In 2017, bassist Mark Armas, drummer JR Recla, keyboardist Jed Zulaybar, and percussionist Immanuel Baile joined the Pinkmen, transforming the duo act into the band it is today. Their music is a take on the full range of being alive - from its manic highs to its melancholic lows. Their style is a distinct, modern day merging of folk, rock, and psychedelia, with musical elements reminiscent of folk legends in the likes of Simon and Garfunkel as well as rock icons such as the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and the Eagles. Pinkmen signed a record deal with Offshore Music in 2019. The band released their debut single “Asked You to Dance” under the label in February that same year.
