About Philip Clouts
Philip Clouts is known for his work with worldbeat band Zubop, with whom he has recorded five widely acclaimed albums, toured internationally and played at major festivals including WOMAD and Glastonbury. The Trio is a more compact vehicle for which Philip Clouts has written a new set of original material, influenced by Latin and African jazz and New Orleans funk, to create music with a groove. “Although clearly steeped in the music of his native South Africa, Clouts touches numerous other bases on this fun, wholly accessible album, and his deft, lively, intensely rhythmic piano is skilfully complemented throughout by a vigorous but sensitive rhythm section.” Jazz Review “An enormously enjoyable set of accessible but distinctive originals.
