About Peter Ruzicka

Peter Ruzicka (born July 3, 1948) is a German composer of classical music. Ruzicka was born in post-war Düsseldorf, and studied music at the Hamburg Conservatory. In 1969, his cantata, Esta Noche, won a prize, and in 1972, he won the Bach Prize Scholarship. In 1979 he was appointed intendant of the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1990, he became a professor of music at Hamburg, and from 2001 to 2006 was musical director of the Salzburg Festival.
