About Pitou
Pitou is Dutch songstress Pitou Nicolaes (born 1993 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands). Her recordings are characterised by her highly distinctive voice, unique compositions and the use of vocal harmonies as an instrument in themselves. Her distinctive 'folk noir', with classical influences, has been compared to the likes of Vashti Bunyan, Joanna Newsom, Laura Marling and Alela Diane. Pitou manages to combine her background in classical and world music, creating a contemporary sound whilst maintaining a timeless aesthetic. Having released two EPs, or mini albums, if you will (Pitou in 2016 and I Fall Asleep So Fast in 2018), 2023 saw the release of her debut full-length, Big Tear.
