About Orchester Walter Eichenberg
Walter Eichenberg (Großburschla, Thuringia, Germany, December 20, 1922 - March 13, 2018) was a German composer, trumpeter, conductor and arranger. In 1945, Eichenberg began his first engagement in a small swing formation in Chemnitz. From 1946 onwards he played for the first time in a big band , the Chemnitzer Orchester Karl Walter. From September 1947, Eichenberg played in the newly founded dance orchestra of the Leipzig station under the direction of Kurt Henkels. The Leipzig Grossformation quickly became one of the most well-known and popular in the east of Germany, but was also popular in the west of the divided country and made in professional circles internationally also talked about. Eichenberg distinguished himself in the orchestra not only as an instrumentalist, but also as a composer and arranger. Among other things, he wrote some titles for the first DEFA music film Music, Music, Music . At the same time, Eichenberg's arrangements decisively influenced the musical profile of the band. As an arranger he worked in the 1950s for several years for Erwin Lehn and his Südfunk-Tanzorchester Stuttgart . From 1958 Eichenberg also led the Radio DDR studio orchestra. In 1960 he married the pop singer Helga Brauer . Very successful instrumental recordings by Walter Eichenberg are Kaskaden Grand with fours, 6 out of 49, Bauern-Dixie, Am Schnürchen a.o.. From the 1950s he composed dance songs in collaboration with Helmut Kießling ( Beautifully, beautifully and Perfectly, perfectly ), Helmut Kießling / Maggie Koch ( music, music, music , Lonely is my ship in the harbor and My heart is totally confused ) and Johannes Kretzschmar ( sailor yarn). In the mid-1950s, an intense collaboration began with Willy Schüller ( Listen to my heart ). Together with the formation he was a musician and conductor on tours in twelve European countries.
