Nelson Navarrete
About Nelson Navarrete
Nelson has an extensive music academic training. Since a very early age he became started on theory and guitar performing. Originally from Colombia in Southamerica he attended highly prestigious music schools with great success and recognition. His influences are varied, although Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, Classical and contemporary instrumental are genres he explores intensely in his compositions. He eventually settled on the U.S. where after years of performing, composing, and recording in Florida, moved to Boston to attend The Berklee College of Music to study Film Scoring. He received his Bachelor of Music with high honors in the fall of 2005. During his time at Berklee, Nelson stopped performing due to a complex neurological problem in his left hand called Focal Dystonia. While working on his recovery, Nelson turned his focus to his composing and conducting skills. One of his pieces was chosen and performed by the Esterhazy String Quartet, and he was selected to participate in a conducting workshop directed by Rafael Sanz-Espert. This a remarkable example of how something apparently tragic, made flourished something great as his compositions. Nelson style is unique and varied at the same time. His extensive soundscapes are highly suggestive and intense, while at times also soothing and evocative. His strongest skill is without a doubt the accomplished relationship between his complex harmonies and ellaborate themes. A music jewel with much to offer.
