About Naive Set

Naive Set is an indie pop four-piece from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Established in 2012, the band’s melodic, harmony-rich pop sounds like it could’ve originated 25 years earlier. Or 25 years before that, or 25 years in the future, for that matter. The music is dense with four-part harmonies and quick changes, while at the same time succinct (no song passes the three-minute mark in duration). During the recording of their first album, Reclining Nude (2014), producer (and future band member) Jan Schenk compared them to The Feelies. Others have drawn comparisons to The Beach Boys or classic Dunedin bands like The Clean. Naive Set's members also play in Amsterdam bands Moon & Sun and Spilt Milk. The band's second album, Dragon, came out in 2015, followed by a third, Naive Set, in 2018. Naive Set is: Jan Pieter van Weel, Mikey Casalaina, Caspar Stalenhoef and Jan Schenk.
