About Nükhet Ruacan
Nükhet Ruacan (b. 14 December 1951, Istanbul, Turkey - died 6 May 2007) was a famous professional jazz singer and lecturer in Istanbul Bilgi University. Nükhet Ruacan's career started as a graphic designer in Marmara University. After realizing that singing was much more suitable for her, she left the academy and started working as a pop singer. Her deep interest in jazz music led her to specialize in the field, thus becoming one of the best jazz vocalists in Turkey. She performed in all major cities of Europe and the USA. While working as a lecturer she was still performing with both TRT big band and also with her own groups, mostly with her brother, jazz guitarist and a lecturer Neset Ruacan. Unexpectidly she died of complications from leucemia on 6 May 2007 just before her concert. "This next song is only dedicated to the beautiful people here tonight. That means all of you. Thank you for coming along and making this a great occasion." -Live Aid, 1985 Farrokh Bulsara (a.k.a. Freddie Mercury)
