Reviews for My Fiction “The floor is packed with bouncing bodies as My Fiction hit song after song with such dexterity and perfection that I’m finding it hard to believe that these guys aren’t where Faker is in the Australian music world… It’s an astonishing performance, even bettered when Grey City brings the house down during the encore… the night of musical wonder isn’t just good—it’s ten times good.” — Rave Magazine: Lindsey Cuthbertson. “They skilfully blend elements of New Order and, more recently, The Bravery, to produce a sound that nods respectfully at their influential contemporaries… the band are so cohesive and confident that I have to keep reminding myself that they’ve only just released their debut EP.” – www.fasterlouder.com.au “My Fiction have melded genres to create their sound, which is giving them the opportunity to become another band from our parts to achieve widespread recognition…. With the fun of indie pop and the passion of alt-rock, My Fiction’s sound is hard to disagree with.” – Scene Magazine “My Fiction kick off the night with a slice of well-honed and energetic electro/guitar rock. Vocals are delivered with a sense of the dramatic… with slick musicianship, complex arrangements and a fun stage presence.” – TimeOff: Dan Simmons “…The six kinetic songs on Your Tokyo seem custom made to take a journey to. The title track alone is a little charging explosion of indie-electronica-pop that begs to be taken for a test drive, and even when things turn a bit more guitar-based on Go and the lyrically leftfield Captain America (Has The Bends), there’s still that driving force spurring you forward. Some space-noir instrumentals and remixes towards the end wrap up an excellent debut.” — Rave Magazine: Simon Topper. My Fiction (Brisbane) are: Danny Murphy (drums) Sean Rigley (keyboards/synths) Mike Willmett (bass/vocals), Eric Robinson (lead vocals/guitar) James Laubscher (lead guitar/vocals). Information about My Fiction (California): "My Fiction is the result of merging new and familiar sounds to create an experience unlike any other. Our dream has been brought into existence by unifying intricate guitar riffs with walls of gritty distortion over haunting bass lines- to support and drive melodic vocal hooks like a cadenced declaration. We basically do everything we can to help make My Fiction become your fiction too." -My Fiction My fiction is a band from Newport Beach, California. Casey-Vocals Justin-Guitar Andrew-Guitar Austin-Bass Brian-Drums Seeking refuge from a stagnant music scene, a group of dedicated visionaries began drawing up plans for an un-stoppable band to re-route the music scene using a concoction of modern writing techniques and forgotten tonal textures. Rather than copying currently popular bands "layers of leads" sound, they derived emotion from an array of unique discordant phrases, fitted together so precisely in such an imperfect way that one couldn’t afford NOT to wait in curiosity for the next piece of the song. Easily remembered fun-to-sing melodies were the center of their creation; holding the cadenced flock of sound together from the inside. All along; groovy, haunting bass lines flirted with percussion in a way that left your movemenst synchronized all day. In April of 2007 MY FICTION was completed with Casey Anderson (vocals) Andrew Kozak (guitar) Austin Highley (bass) Justin Sprouse (guitar) and Brian Dropkin (drums). The unpolished grit of the guitar was accentuated by feedback in and around specifically designated times, sounding like it was borrowed directly from rocks most pivotal influences. The “pop” of an amps channels switching was celebrated and endorsed, along with other subtle nuances, giving a more REAL vibe to the production and further separating the band from the rest of the scene. “We aren’t afraid to do something different; but we are smart enough to do it in a way that people will connect with.” MY FICTION played their first show on the Vans Warped Tour 2007 and is embarking on a series of nonstop shows/touring to bring this unique sound to the people.
