About Mozcorra
No matter how silent and emotionally awkward the music that Omar Alejandro; & Mrndln made, ambient music lost a big sigh when the Mexican duet disbanded in 2009. And even Mrndln never played a single note (except when she decided to play the musical glass) Omar never hide the fact she was the most important member of the group, or as he said: “The big amount of imagination that felt in my hands, was in fact coming directly from her eyelids”. Omar started in the beginning of 2005 creating his first ambient productions, heavily influenced by Gustavo Mauricio and Brian Eno, and it wasn’t until 2007, when Mrndln integrated the project as the main photographer and the inspiration of all the songs. They released Niña Cabra in Mexican label Ala Jazz Records and made the band a curious act, a small exception in Mexican music with their cold, yet comfortable and uplifting sounds, that took Omar years to develop, from an electronic synthesizer to the use of low frequencies and analog delays with electronic equipments, and later; the use of field recordings, which filled the second album Tu Y Yo Y Aquel Día En El Cual Me Desperte Con Tus Brazos Sobre Mi Y Tus Ojos Bien Abiertos Mirándome Fijamente Y Que Al Otro Dia, Solitario En Mi Cama, Extrañe Tanto released in the Swedish label TLOHOTRA in the beginnings of 2008. In 2009 Omar Alejandro; & Mrndln decided to disband, their music and personal relationship, leaving behind numerous demos, a couple of remarkable live shows and even an entire conceptual album (with the contemplative name of Mrndln) in the middle of production; but most importantly they leave a giant gap in contemplative music, and a large, intense and influential music production.
