Monica Pilar Granne (born 1967), known professionally as Monica Pilar, is a Chilean-Norwegian singer and songwriter specializing in bossa nova, Latin jazz, and acoustic vocal music. With mixed Latin heritage and a deep affinity for the music of João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim, Pilar has earned recognition in Norway for her intimate, multilingual performances and commitment to the traditional spirit of Brazilian music. Pilar began her public musical journey in the 2000s, performing with Undecided Jazzband, a group based in Norway known for its blend of traditional jazz as well as Latin influences. With the band, she recorded and performed several live renditions of classic bossa nova and Latin songs, including “Corcovado,” “Garota de Ipanema,” “Besame Mucho,” and “Wave". ”Monica Pilar's music is rooted in the Brazilian bossa nova tradition but also draws from bolero, folk blues, and mainstream jazz, with a Scandinavian touch.
