There are at least 7 artists with this name. 1. Modus is one of the most popular pop/rock bands in Slovakia. They were founded in 1967 in line-up Ján Baláž , J. Kratochvíl, P. Krutek, T. Psota, Luboš Stankovský, G. Wertlen, Miro Žbirka). In the year 1972, they added keyboardist, composer (and later leader of the band) Ján Lehotský. They added popular singer Marika Gombitová in 1976 and later won Czechoslovak music contest Bratislavska lýra in 1977 with song "Úsmev". In the year 1978 they replaced drummer and bassguitarist. Modus with star line-up (1978) were : drummer Dušan Hájek, bassguitarist Laco Lučenič, singer Marika Gombitová, singer and guitarist Miro Žbirka, keyboardist and composer Janko Lehotský. In 1978 they von "Bratislavská lýra" with song "Dievčatá (Girls)". In 80s Miro Žbirka, Dušan Hájek and Laco Lučenič formed new band - Limit (very popular in Slovakia too). The band Modus continues with members as Marián Greksa, Milan Vyskočányi, Ivona Novotná and again drummer Luboš Stankovský (he is drumming and singing in his song „Ty, ja a môj brat“). Modus is still playing up to this day with leader Janko Lehotský. 2. Modus is an Electronic / Ambient / World Fusion / New Age / Trip-Hop and Downtempo artist from the Wirral, UK. Modus is a solo project started in 2006 by Mal Davies, one time keyboard player in the 80's Liverpool band 'Always The Now'. Exploring a life long interest in World music and combining it with his electronic music background he has taken Modus on a musical journey that has led to the release of the EP "The Colour of Love" in February 2009. The EP has received much acclaim with it's diverse mix of ambiences ranging from the Neo Classic "The Colour of Love", the fusion of Indian instruments and Arabic vocals of "Sutra" to the pulsating remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". They manage to create a sound that is totally unique to themselves. One does catch glimpses of their progressive influences such as Genesis/Peter Gabriel. This band certainly has the knack for creative song-writing in that one song may have a jazzy vibe with soul, while another song surprises you with it’s heaviness and raw emotion. Fans of Tool, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, and Genesis will definitely get into this. 6. modus, real name Pablo "Paul" Pérez, is a Spanish electronic musician known for his cinematic style of dubstep. He has released on a number of prominent labels in the scene, such as Circus Records, Ophelia Records, Rushdown, and Exobolt. In 2025, he completed his 10-year running series of annual tracks called "New Year Protocol", which started as more or less regular melodic dubstep tracks and slowly evolved into a massive cinematic storytelling project complete with animation. After the completion of this project, modus decided to take a break from releasing music for the rest of the year, stating he was planning to resume putting out music in 2026. 7. Modus is the very first Lituanian Industrial Rock/EBM band. The band originated in a small Marijampolė town and consisted of two persons with academic musical education, Gintas Kraptavičius and Darius Klišys. The two were assisted on stage by Marijus Sagulinas, and they were the first band in Lituania to play sampled keyboards, producing new timbres of guitars, drums and other sounds. The lyrics were in their native Lituanian language, and they performed their original electronic industrial rock at several underground events and alternative art festivals during their time as a band.
