About Modest Moreno i Morera
Modest Moreno i Morera (Ripoll) is a Catalan organist, composer and musicologist. He is a disseminator of Hispanic music, from ancient to contemporary, and of the Montserrat School. Together with the record label Edicions Albert Moraleda he started the collection Orgues Notables de Catalunya. He is the author of the monograph Les campanes del Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Ripoll -una aproximació musical- and the collection of essays Sobre música, both published by the City Council of Ripoll and the Board of Trustees of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll. In musicological research, he is the author of Notes sobre la Teoria musical de l'edat mitjana al Monestir de Ripoll, a study on an organ by the centellenc Francesc Galtayres, s. XVIII, of the church of Sant Pere de Ripoll; the revision, study and transcription of Lluís Brusi's Verses of the First Tone and the Theme with variations by the Montserrat monk Benet Brell i Clos, published by the Centre d'Estudis Comarcals del Ripollès; Works for organ – a collection of unpublished pieces by the Montserrat School and Josep Elies – and the organ piece by Fr. Anselm Ferrer, also published by Ripoll Town Council. In 2019 he started a series of dissemination articles about the musician monks of Montserrat.
