Synthpop, Indietronica, Synthwave, Electrorock? There’s hardly Band one label that fully describes the musical identity of this 5-piece from The Netherlands. Surely, there’s references to well-known 80’s and 90’s New Wave and Synthpop figureheads as well as flirtations with modern electronica and rock music. Strong vocals filled with emotion, blistering synthesizer melodies, wavy rocking guitars and an organic, grooving rhythm section is what makes Model Depose stand out. Their love for melancholia in music and emotional themes from their personal lives is what inspires the band to write pointy, heartfelt songs, that are sometimes dark, anthemic, or uplifting, always able to move the listener in some way. With roots somewhere in experimental noise, dark wave and metal, these friends started off in 2009 as a project to create something fresh and new. Through the years they developed their unique sound, with two EP’s “Untitled” and their sound defining “Nightwatch EP” . In 2014, the band recorded most of what is to be Model Depose’s biggest accomplishment yet: their debut album, which will be released 10 April 2015. At the start of 2013 Model Depose won second place in the Demodock finals of Eric Corton’s music platform Cortonville. They played the Dutch Popronde in 2013, Eurosonic 2014 & 2015, and as various support acts in clubs throughout the Netherlands. In 2015, they will play their first shows in Germany [May] and United Kingdom [June].
