About Milkrun - Buffalo, N.Y.

In the beginning: Formed on the harsh Buffalo Suburban Streets in 1994, Andrew Keller (Lead vocals / bassist) , Gus Walters (guitar / bassist / backing vocals ), Ron Glose (guitarist / backing vocals) and Art Keller (drums / percussion) saw many changes in lineups and styles since its inception. Armed with a scarce handful of originals and a boatload of favorite cover songs, Milkrun took to Buffalo's The Continental in 1996 and had solid top billing there sharing the stage with many of Buffalo's up and coming bands. This however would not last. In 1997 the band faced it's first bit of turmoil - having to get real jobs. You see, being in a local band was not paying the bills. This harsh dark reality forced the band on hold while the Milkrun members focused on their schooling and careers. In the summer of 1999, a calling of sorts happened: Sitting around at one of their favorite local spots, the members began to reminisce of those lazy, no responsibility, post high school and college days. They talked of the song writing, the late night "Continental" days, and the music they had come to miss playing. The Mission Statement: A pact was made on that muggy late August night: They were to wipe the dust off the instruments, hole themselves up in a basement for 6 months straight and write an album full of new music. They would not play a single show until that album was completed. During the day the members would work full time jobs and at night - practice and write music. The Albums, Engineers, Audio Magic and Venues: In the new millenium the first Milkrun CD was recorded and studio engineered by Marc Hunt of Ear Candy Audio/Audio Magic. This 13 song album entitled Dedicated to...(The Orange Album), was titled Dedicated to... in the memory of a close friend who had passed away in the fall of 1999 and for who the song "Crow Hop" was written. This first album was a raw powerful passion for the music that they had come to love over that long, angry, elated, emotional roller coaster of a writing period. Milkrun went on in the year 2000 to play regularly at some of Buffalo's finest music clubs. They were a regular at Mohawk Place, Nietzsches, and The Continental. They could be seen playing at the Showplace Theatre. The writing was non-stop at this point and itchy to get back in the studio, Milkrun went back to Audio Magic and recorded "HooRay!" with Marc Hunt and Fred Betschen in the spring of 2001. In the beginning of 2002, Milkrun went into the studio and recorded the studio slick "Three Tales of Turmoil". 103.3 WEDG "The Edge" : Milkrun has been featured on 103.3 WEDG "The Edge" on a number of occasions - on their "Next Wave" Sunday night show and the highlight "103.3 The Edge's Unplugged" concert series hosted by Adam 12. The hottest DJ in all of radio Val Townsend (sorry Bull) could be overheard saying at a Buffalo "Happening" concert series that she had a fond place in her heart for the anti mullet song, "My Friend Enis"(which can be found on the "HooRay" recordings). "The Vacation": In the fall of 2002, after 3 short but fun years and after having given it their all - Milkrun decided to take a "vacation of sorts". Creative direction, settling down and full time careers was mainly the cause of this vacation. The Return: Just recently, in the summer of 2009, the members of Milkrun began to reminisce of those late nights at the "Mohawk" and "Neat Cheeze". The great stories surrounding the Orange Album recordings with Marc Hunt - some of the best times they ever had in a recording studio. They began to hunger for the music that once engulfed and fueled their desire. This time would be different, this time would be simple writing and more emphasis on the one word that had seemed to take a back seat those short 6 years ago - fun. A little wiser, a little more mature, these 4 may have one more go of this up their sleeves... "Coming...soon?" Friends of Milkrun: Milkrun has had some help along the way: Former member that got out while the getting was good - bassist Carl Edholm. Ex-member and bassist - Brian Edwards...and last but not least manager of the band and longtime friend - Chad T. Comeau.
