Michael Bannett

About Michael Bannett

One of the greatest of modern American treble singers, Michael Bannett offers a wonderful affirmation of the trend in recent decades to emphasize a more natural, boyish vocal style, in contrast to the more mannered, "art music" style that remains in vogue in northern Europe (and best exemplified, perhaps, by Max Emmanuel Cencic). In Bannett's later album of traditional folk melodies, "Journey Through the British Isles," his voice has noticeably begun to change, and so his singing range has effectively shifted from treble to alto -- to beautiful effect.
