About Memphis Snake Doctors
Tom Stafford - Guitar and vocals Steve Bishop - Bass and vocals Gary Wagoner - Harmonica and vocals Greg Taylor - Drums John Sanders - Keyboards and guitar "Snake Doctor" is the southern vernacular for "dragonfly," but it also sounds like a dang good mojo-workin' name for a blues band! The Memphis Snake Doctors have a combined 152 and one-half years of blues musicianship dedicated to your enjoyment of the art, the sound and the genre. The band counts as influences the early works of Peter Green (founder of the original Fleetwood Mac) and Howling Wolf, as well as British and Southern blues genres represented by bands like the Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, and The Bluesbreakers. When Tom Stafford and Steve Bishop met up at the blues jam at the P&H Cafe in Midtown Memphis in early 2002, great things were afoot. From that came a band that has produced three incredible studio albums, opened at the King Biscuit and rocked Midsouth Stages for most of a decade. It's edgy, attitude-forward blues you can use!
