About Melissa Robertson

Sydney born Melissa Robertson is a country/folk singer and songwriter who began singing solo at the age of 16 representing her school in regional concerts and musicals. In the late 1980’s Melissa joined a covers band and began formal singing studies. After relocating to rural NSW Melissa's passion for country and folk music grew as she began to write songs about her life experiences Melissa continued her singing studies learning Arias and won two second places in both the Penrith and Cowra Eisteddfods in 1986, 1990 and 1992. In late 2009 Melissa released her debut EP 'Ride Of Your Life' toured throughout the Central West of NSW then to Mars Hill Cafe Sydney and onto Tamworth where she showcased her songs at WJO's second showcase. In 2009 "Ride Of Your Life" was shortlisted in the 29th Annual Australian Songwriters Associations (ASA) competition. In 2010 two more of Melissa's songs were shorltisted in the 30th ASA competition. Also in 2010 Melissa became the Inaugural winner of the Wattle Flat Country music Awards and in 2011 Melissa retained her title as Wattle Flats Country Music Champion. Melissa's songs have been well received and enjoys airplay across NSW VIC and Qld. Melissa performed on 5 different stages at Tamworth's Country Music Festival this year and continues to sing in Hotels, Restaurants and Clubs throughout NSW. Melissa is currently (in first half 2011) busy preparing her upcoming album
